About Finative:
We started Finative (https://www.finative.co/) for one simple reason: to allow entrepreneurs to pursue the work they love. As a small business, a multi-person finance team isn’t an efficient use of funds, and as a result, much of the day-to-day reporting falls on the founder or a key member of the executive team. There are enough stresses with running a business and creating a robust growth strategy; the daily financial operations should not be one of them.
Our mission at Finative is to empower businesses to grow, by finding the right balance between technological innovation and human interaction. We leverage the latest FinTech solutions to make financial processes as seamless as possible, while also making sure there is someone there to support clients' business every step of the way. Our clients are actively managing cash burn, measuring performance, reporting to investors, making capital allocation decisions, and preparing for fundraising. All of that takes expertise and time that founders don’t have and can’t afford to hire for. Finative bridges the gap with flexible, various support packages that provide fractional leadership and operational support from CFOs, Controllers, FP&A Managers, and Tax leaders.
Senior Accounting & Finance Specialist
We’re seeking a senior accounting and finance professional to work full-time with one growing, multi-entity client. The business combines recurring, usage-based revenue with physical product sales, inventory, and equipment deployed in the field. You’ll participate core accounting processes, help deliver a reliable monthly close, and turn financial data into clear reporting for leadership.
What you’ll do
- Manage day-to-day accounting across multiple entities, including accounts payable and receivable, customer invoicing, general ledger entries, bank and credit-card reconciliations, payroll accounting, and financial statement schedules.
- Drive the parts of the month-end and year-end close: prepare entries and reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, maintain supporting documentation, and deliver accurate entity-level and consolidated financial reports.
- Manage intercompany accounting and cost allocations, including shared vendor expenses, payroll, payroll taxes, and benefits. Maintain clear support for how costs are assigned to each entity.
- Reconcile inventory and equipment activity to the general ledger. Track product and parts costs, finished equipment, job-level costs, capitalization, fixed assets, and depreciation.
- Review customer billing and revenue classifications, including recurring minimums, usage overages, product sales, credits, and other contract-specific arrangements.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting, budget-to-actual variance analysis, and clear explanations of financial performance. Support KPI, cash-flow, board, investor, audit, and due-diligence requests.
- Improve controls and workflows by documenting procedures, resolving data issues, and using modern finance tools to make processes more accurate and efficient.
- Collaborate directly with client's finance and operations teams, as well as intrnal colleagues, to resolve issues and move projects forward.
What you bring
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of relevant accounting experience, with substantial hands-on responsibility for the general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close.
- Strong accounting judgment and understanding of U.S. GAAP, with experience in internal controls, multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidated financial reporting.
- Proficiency with a cloud accounting platform and the ability to learn connected billing, payments, payroll, inventory, and reporting systems quickly. Confidence working in QuickBooks Online and familiarity with Bill.com, Gusto, Odoo, Salesforce, Asset Accountant, Divvy, Expensify or similar operational and finance tools is must.
- Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, including building and maintaining reconciliations, allocation models, and reporting schedules.
